The White Tree roundabout - named after the tree which has a painted white trunk. The tree stands between Parry's Lane and Westbury Road, and can just be seen on the map. It may have marked the northern coach exit from the Downs before the tarmac roads were laid. The tradition to paint the tree trunk probably started in the mid nineteenth century. The tree has been replaced three times so far.
